Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Master’s degree, or are pre-candidacy in a doctoral degree, in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field.
• Students pursuing a BS in these fields will be considered if there is accompanying significant relevant research experience.
• Demonstrated competency executing basic laboratory tasks independently, such as safe chemical handling and weighing/dispensing.

Responsibilities

• Shadow senior colleagues to learn drug product processes, engineering controls, and testing strategies.
• Design and execute excipient compatibility studies and drug product stability studies.
• Lead experimental drug product manufacturing trials.
• Independently perform basic product quality testing, such as syringability and dose uniformity.

Pharmaeutical Formulations Intern

Location: Kalamazoo, MI

Internship Summary: The pharmaceutical formulations intern will work closely with experienced formulation scientists, engineers, and project team members to help advance Zoetis' innovative drug product development pipeline. They will lead an independent project focused on customer-obsessed formulation design and development, and present their research and results.

Internship Job Duties

• Shadow senior colleagues to learn drug product processes, engineering controls, and testing strategies
• Design and execute excipient compatibility studies and drug product stabilities studies
• Lead experimental drug product manufacturing trials
• Independently perform basic product quality testing, such as syringability, resuspension, dose uniformity, etc.
• Participate in organizational and career learning and development opportunities.

Internship Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Master’s degree, or are pre-candidacy in a doctoral degree, in fields of pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field. Students pursuing a BS in these fields will be considered if there is accompanying significant relevant research experience.
• Demonstrated competency executing basic laboratory tasks independently, such as safe chemical handling, weigh/dispense, microscopy, literature searching, etc.
• Experienced with sterile injectables, including suspensions and gels. Experience with HPLC, SEM, and AI-assisted research/study design are a plus.

Hourly Pay Rates

If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $16.00 per hour

If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $22.00 per hour

If the selected candidate is a student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $32.50 per hour

If the selected candidate is a student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $36.00 per hour

Hourly Pay Rates for specific locations: Student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $17.00 per hour

Student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $24.20 per hour

Student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $36.40 per hour

Student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $40.30 per hour
