The position requires USPTO registration, 7–10 years of patent law experience in pharma/biotech, and a strong chemistry/biochemistry/pharma background.

Qualifications

• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• J.D. degree is preferred, but not required.
• 7–10 years of patent law experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in chemistry, biochemistry, or pharmaceutical sciences; advanced degree and/or research experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Service-oriented focus with ability to work cross-functionally and drive results.
• Highest integrity, judgment, and ability to communicate legal issues to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications, including drafting, filing, and responding to office actions globally.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and provide strategic patent counsel.
• Manage patent portfolios and develop patent strategies to protect innovations.
• Provide due diligence support for business development and potential partnerships.
• Draft and negotiate license and collaboration agreements.
• Manage relationships with outside counsel to ensure high-quality, cost-effective services.
• Engage with business and technical teams to provide IP guidance.
• Stay updated on patent laws and ensure regulatory compliance.
