Job description

Evio is a highly unique pharmacy solutions company that was founded by and works closely with health plans to implement transformative (to cost, quality, access and experience) initiatives primarily focused on specialty and other high-cost medication solutions.

In 2020, a group of five amazing Blue Cross Blue Shield health plans that in total serve more than 20 million members recognized that the way medications get to patients needs significant reform—rapidly rising costs and massive system complexities are detrimental to patients and the entire industry. In 2025, Wellmark joined as Evio's first non-founding investor and sixth owner health plan. Each company made, and continues to make, significant investments to establish Evio as an independent entity to lead this transformation.

Evio has advancedanalytics and contracting capabilities at scale , and a suite of digital tools , to power our high-cost medication solutions. Our solutions act as a self-reinforcing “ flywheel ” where each element strengthens and feeds into the next, and support an “Only Evio can do that,” mindset and prioritization.

Evio's Values
  • Empathy– The people our business serves always come first. We care for our teammates and put ourselves in the shoes of our health plan customers and the patients and clinicians our solutions benefit.
  • Diversity – We are committed to fostering a culture where everyone belongs and is valued for their background, experience and insights – one that encourages diversity of ideas, and is a nurturing, trusting, and accepting place for all.
  • Adventure– We are flexible, thrive in ambiguity, fail fast, and pivot quickly to get to a better answer. We celebrate wins and pivots with equal intensity.
  • Relentless– Guided by evidence and data, we are creative, curious, and unwavering in our pursuit of challenging the status quo and each other.
  • Transparency – Just as we seek to bring transparency to the pharmacy supply chain, authenticity and integrity are core to the way we communicate.
  • Excellence – We strive to raise the bar in all we do by hiring and developing exceptional talent and holding ourselves and our thinking to the highest standard.
About the role

Evio and the six health plans we represent are uniquely positioned in the market and have demonstrated success in creating innovative partnerships with pharmaceutical manufacturers. As the regulatory environment for health plans, PBMs/GPOs, and manufacturers rapidly evolves over the next several years, Evio is expanding our direct manufacturer contracting capabilities and growing the team supporting this work.

The Pharma Contracting Lead will contribute to the team by developing manufacturer relationships, negotiating innovative medication agreements, and driving deal flow and revenue in this growing business segment.

Evio focuses on entering into innovative agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers that reduce medication costs for Evio's investor/customer health plans and their members.

The ideal candidate brings deep understanding of the pharmaceutical supply chain, payer-pharma contracting strategies, and a proven track record of developing, negotiating, and closing pharma-payer agreements. This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strategic thinking, industry credibility, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves.

What you'll do

In this role, you will partner with senior Evio leaders and teammates to:

  • Establish and grow relationships with assigned pharmaceutical manufacturers across medical and pharmacy benefits.
  • Design creative deal structures for targeted medications, emphasizing innovative, non-rebate arrangements that improve access and affordability for Evio's health plan customers.
  • Negotiate and secure medical benefit access contracts with assigned pharmaceutical manufacturers that meet Evio's strategic and financial goals.
  • Manage the full deal cycle from origination through contract execution, coordinating with legal, operations, and other cross-functional teammates to resolve issues and maintain momentum.
  • Secure market-leading pricing, terms, and safeguards by leveraging the volume of Evio investor/customer health plans across high-spend specialty and provider-administered medications.
  • Represent Evio at industry meetings, conferences, and in discussions with pharmaceutical manufacturers and payer customers, including occasional live and virtual Evio board interactions.
  • Independently identify and advance new contracting opportunities, solve complex challenges, and drive deals forward in an evolving business.
  • Be willing to travel based on meeting requirements and business needs; however, a significant amount of deal creation and negotiation can be done virtually.
Your skills and experience
  • Industry experience:10+ years of experience, with extensive experience either with a pharmaceutical manufacturer or in a pharma-facing role at a health plan or PBM.
  • Pharmaceutical supply chain expertise:Industry expertise in the full medication supply chain, spanning and medical benefits, specialty pharmacy, and distributor dynamics.
  • Deep understanding of:
  • Health plan pharmacy decision-making, including benefit design considerations, PBM dynamics, and provider-payer relationships.
  • Pharmacy and medical benefit claims data.
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturers' commercial strategies, including market access, patient services, distribution, HEOR, and sales and marketing.
  • Clinical and therapeutic considerations:Ability to incorporate clinical and therapeutic considerations into the design of pharma-payer deals, including product positioning within formularies and medical policies.
  • Financial modeling:Experience with financial structure modeling for payer-pharma deals.
  • Contracting expertise:Proven experience structuring and closing innovative pharma-payer contracts, with deep understanding of rebates, pricing and regulatory implications, formulary access, trade relations, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Commercial problem-solving:Strong strategic and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities, develop new solutions, and drive commercial results.
  • Executive communication and relationship building:Strong communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to build credibility and negotiate effectively with pharmaceutical executives and payer leadership.
  • Hands-on execution:Comfortable working hands‑on, building new approaches, and driving execution without the large teams or established processes of a traditional pharmaceutical company or PBM.
  • Collaboration and adaptability:Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and navigate changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
