Job summary

Southeast Health District - District 9-2 is seeking a qualified nurse to provide nutrition assessments, education, and counseling to WIC participants. The role involves developing nutrition care plans and traveling to clinics to support program delivery.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate Degree in Nursing with a Georgia RN license and CPR certification; bilingual abilities are preferred for serving diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutrition assessments, education, and counseling to WIC participants.
• Develop and document nutrition care plans per state/district guidelines.
• Travel to assigned clinics to deliver nutrition services.
• Serve as a resource on WIC procedures for district staff and partners.
• Train clinic staff on WIC procedures as needed.
• Adhere to vaccine protocols, specimen handling, and HIPAA/data entry rules.
• Administer vaccines at vaccination events or emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision, provide nutrition assessments, education, and counseling to WIC participants. Develop and document nutrition care plans for participants as required by state and district nutrition guidelines. Will travel to assigned clinics to provide nutrition assessments, education, and counseling to WIC participants. Serves as a resource on WIC procedures and nutrition to district staff and community partners. Train clinic staff on WIC procedures as needed. Adhere to protocols set in place for vaccine administration and specimen collection, including but not limited to appropriate patient identification, registration, preparation and administration of vaccine, labeling, requisitioning, and preparation of specimens for transport to the lab by courier. This position may provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols as needed. Ensure that all safety precautions, HIPAA requirements and data entry are accurate and acknowledged. Administer vaccinations during designated events such as mass vaccination clinics or in the event of a declared emergency. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor’s degree in nursing. One year of experience as a registered professional nurse. Public health experience. WIC experience or experience providing nutrition education. Bilingual.
