Hylton-Rodic Law in Washington, DC is seeking a Ph.D.-trained scientist to join our IP practice as a Patent Agent or Technical Specialist. You will work across sophisticated life-science matters, including patent drafting, U.S. patent prosecution, and foreign prosecution strategy.

We value intellectual depth, precise writing, and the ability to translate complex science into compelling patent work. Prior patent-law experience is not required for exceptional candidates; we can teach.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a life-science related field is required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Ability to understand and convey sophisticated technical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Draft patent applications and prosecute in the U.S. and abroad.
• Coordinate foreign prosecution strategy and inventor interviews.
• Perform prior-art and patentability analyses for life-sciences inventions.
• Assist in portfolio management and strategy development.
• Provide technical analysis to support opinion work and other IP projects.
