Job summary

The JF Petroleum Group in Austin, TX is seeking a Petroleum Construction Foreman to lead field crews on piping and underground/aboveground tank installations. You will plan, supervise, and coordinate work, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time progress.

Responsibilities include reading plans, communicating with the Installation Manager and customers, maintaining daily progress records, and enforcing safety rules while training crew members for higher responsibilities. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading field crews on construction projects.
  • Strong safety mindset and adherence to regulations.
  • Ability to read plans and understand specs.
  • Experience with underground tanks and piping.
  • Ability to manage schedules and communications with management and customers.
  • Willingness to travel and work outdoors in all weather.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to tow trailers.
  • ICC certifications or ability to obtain quickly.

We serve a diverse clientele including retail fueling stations, commercial and government fleets, and emergency power customers.

The Petroleum Construction Foreman takes a hands‑on leadership role on the job site ensuring prompt, efficient progress of the work. The Foreman determines priorities for work to be done, sometimes on their own initiative and authority, but more often based on needs communicated by management. Pay range: $23.50 - $44 per hour dependent on experience

Job Duties:
  • Direct and run the project which includes piping and the installation of the underground, aboveground tanks and related project materials.
  • Communicate to the Installation Manager any specific requirements for completing the project in a safe, timely, and profitable manner.
  • Communicate with the customer or their onsite representative the requirements or issues that may arise on the job site.
  • Ability to read and understand applicable plans and specifications, environmental regulations, fire and building codes that must be enforced on the site.
  • Attend the following meetings (as applicable):
  • Pre-Construction Meetings
  • Safety Meetings
  • Selected training sessions as directed by the Installation Manager
  • Keep accurate daily records on each job. This should include, as a minimum, a record of all tests, inspections, the daily progress on the job, visitors to the job and situations that may affect the schedule in a negative way.
  • Set an example for your crew members by reporting to work on time and in proper uniform.
  • Supervise the daily activities of the crew.
  • Plan for tomorrow.
  • Take opportunities to train the crew so that each member is able to take on increasing responsibilities.
  • Enforce all mandatory safety rules:
  • Be aware of potential hazards and correct any of these situations.
  • Require the use of the proper personal protective equipment by all crew members and subcontractors.
  • Hold daily job-site safety meetings.
  • Ensure a positive Company image including the following:
  • The personal appearance of each crew member should be clean and in compliance with Company Policy.
  • Each vehicle must be clean and orderly.
  • The job site should be kept orderly and free of safety hazards. Treat the site as if it is your own property.
  • The job site sign should be kept clean and in good repair.
  • The conduct of each crew member should be professional and courteous.
  • Maintain all vehicles in compliance with departmental preventive maintenance policies. Do not allow unsafe conditions to exist on vehicles. Vehicles should be washed and cleaned weekly. Operate all vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Work will include after-hours
  • Able to work in all weather conditions – significant portion of the work is done outdoors
  • Travel as required
Requirements
  • Highschool Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ Years of experience in piping, underground OR aboveground fuel tanks, and related products experience REQUIRED.
  • Must have an understanding of grades and elevations and experience with using a laser level.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to safely operate a construction truck and tow small trailers when needed.
  • Possession of ICC certifications or the ability to quickly obtain certifications as required.
  • Must be able to meet company’s employment requirements, which includes passing a drug screen, background check, and MVR, if driving for the company
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, stooping and standing for the duration of the workday.
