Ideal candidates have grooming training or the Pet Stylist Apprentice program, strong breed knowledge, and a passion for animal care. Weekend/evening availability and a focus on customer satisfaction are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of Pet Stylist Apprentice program or grooming training.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to judge situations and solve grooming challenges with guidance as needed.
• Results-driven with productivity and ownership of the grooming role.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality grooming results.
• Genuine passion for animals and a desire to pursue grooming as a career.
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming needs and health indicators.
• Proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques and standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication for interactions with pet parents and team.
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes safely and empathetically.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling.
• Nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning as part of grooming care.
• Operate and maintain grooming tools and equipment safely.
• Prioritize pet safety and comfort and report concerns as needed.
• Interact with pet parents, provide recommendations and excellent service.
• Educate owners on home grooming care and product use.
• Keep the grooming area clean and sanitized according to policy.
• Maintain knowledge of Petco grooming policies and standards.
• May train or supervise entry-level trainees in absence of a leader.
