Job summary

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform PET imaging and radiopharmaceutical procedures in a clinical setting. The role emphasizes patient care, safety, and collaboration with physicians and technologists to produce high-quality diagnostic images.

The ideal candidate will hold CNMT/ARRT(N) certification or be registry-eligible with timely certification, a completed AMA-approved radiologic technology program, and BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology required.
• Satisfactory completed formal Nuclear Medicine Technology training preferred.
• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or ARRT(N) registered or registry eligible required; obtain certification within one year of hire.
• ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) must be obtained within two years of hire.
• BLS Certification (Required)

Responsibilities

• Administer radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously under physician direction.
• Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage per physician's prescription.
• Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies using a camera.
• Gather patient illness history to guide diagnostic procedures.
• Dispose of radioactive materials following radiation safety procedures.
• Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment.
• Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and assist during tests.
• Produce images for interpretation by a physician.
• Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment or cameras.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Maintain technical competency through ongoing education and company training.

Summary

PET Nuclear Medicine Technologists care for patients while operating equipment to produce high‑quality diagnostic medical images for interpretation at a level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.

Responsibility includes EMR/PACS navigation, general patient care, positioning patients, providing procedure information, and executing proper imaging protocol/technique for all PET examinations. Complies with ALARA and all regulatory requirements for safe and appropriate patient care.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administer radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases using radioisotope equipment under the direction of a physician
• Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed of using a computer following the physician's prescription.
• Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies using a camera to produce photographic or computer images.
• Gather information on patients' illnesses and medical history to guide the choice of diagnostic procedures for therapy.
• Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures.
• Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment.
• Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and assist them during test procedures.
• Produce a computer‑generated or film image for interpretation by a physician.
• Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment or cameras.
• Maintains a clean work environment.
• Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in company‑sponsored training programs.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Graduate of an AMA‑approved School of Radiologic Technology required. Satisfactory Completed formal Nuclear Medicine Technology training in an AMA‑approved school preferred. Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or ARRT(N) registered or registry eligible required Registry‑eligible graduates must obtain certification within one year of hire. ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) must be obtained within two years of hire. BLS Certification (Required)

EXPERIENCE

Experience in Nuclear Medicine preferred Experience with PET/CT Oncology imaging preferred
