Job summary

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Leesburg, FL seeks a Pet Nuclear Medicine Technologist to administer radiopharmaceuticals and acquire high-quality PET/CT images under physician supervision.

Candidate must have AMA-approved Radiologic Technology training, CNMT or ARRT(N) certification or registry eligibility, and BLS. Commitment to ALARA and patient-centered care is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Formal Nuclear Medicine Technology training in an AMA-approved school preferred.
• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or ARRT(N) registered or registry eligible.
• Registry-eligible graduates must obtain certification within one year of hire; ARRT(N)/NMTCB(CT) within two years.
• BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Administer radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously under physician direction.
• Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage using computer as prescribed.
• Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals to produce diagnostic images.
• Gather patient history to guide procedures for therapy.
• Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals safely.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment.
• Explain procedures and safety precautions to patients.
• Produce images for interpretation by a physician.
• Perform quality control checks on equipment.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Pursue ongoing education and company-sponsored training.

Job description

Summary

Pet Nuclear Medicine Technologists care for patients while operating equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic medical images for interpretation at a level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Responsibility includes EMR/PACS navigation, general patient care, positioning patients, providing procedure information, and executing proper imaging protocol/technique for all PET examinations. Complies with ALARA and all regulatory requirements for safe and appropriate patient care.

Primary Tasks And Responsibilities

• Administer radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases using radioisotope equipment under the direction of a physician
• Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed of using a computer following the physician's prescription.
• Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies using a camera to produce photographic or computer images.
• Gather information on patients' illnesses and medical history to guide the choice of diagnostic procedures for therapy.
• Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures.
• Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment.
• Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and assist them during test procedures.
• Produce a computer-generated or film image for interpretation by a physician.
• Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment or cameras.
• Maintains a clean work environment.
• Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in company-sponsored training programs.

Education, Certifications & Licenses

• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology required.
• Satisfactory Completed formal Nuclear Medicine Technology training in an AMA-approved school preferred.
• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or ARRT(N) registered or registry eligible required.
• Registry-eligible graduates must obtain certification within one year of hire. ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) must be obtained within two years of hire.
• BLS Certification (Required).

Experience

• Experience in Nuclear Medicine preferred.
• Experience with PET/CT Oncology imaging preferred.
