Chewy is seeking a senior-level Research & Development professional to lead end-to-end product development for pet food products from concept through commercialization, ensuring nutrition guidelines and regulatory compliance. The role requires strong formulation science, cross-functional collaboration, and a customer-centric approach.

You will create lab-tested formulations, guide labeling and feeding guidelines, and participate in portfolio planning to deliver differentiating products.

Qualifications

• BS in Science (e.g., Food Science, Meat Science, Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, Packaging).
• 5+ years in pet or human food product development from concept to commercialization.
• Knowledge of USDA, FDA regulations, AAFCO regulations, and related regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of formulation science, ingredient technologies, manufacturing processes, quality systems, and commercialization.
• Customer-first orientation with ability to use insights to guide product decisions.
• Strong ownership mindset with accountability for commitments and growth.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.

Responsabilités

• Lead end-to-end product development from opportunity identification to launch.
• Formulate products, design experiments, review results, and ensure nutrition guidelines are met.
• Create label information including ingredients, feeding guidelines, and guaranteed analysis.
• Troubleshoot formulation challenges with R&D and cross-functional teams.
• Champion customer-centered innovation using customer needs and scientific evidence.
• Support future innovation planning and portfolio growth.
• Be a product lifecycle guardian by keeping products competitive through market analysis and feedback.
• Drive continuous improvement in scientific practices and processes.
