Job summary

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of radiopharmaceutical handling and radiation safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PET and PET/CT imaging procedures according to established protocols.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with radiation safety standards.
  • Verify patient identity, review medical history, and explain procedures to patients.
  • Position patients accurately to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and respond to adverse reactions.
  • Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot PET imaging equipment.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, imaging data, and documentation.
  • Adhere to ALARA principles and radiation regulations.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment.
  • Participate in quality assurance, quality control, and continuing education.

PET/CT Technology Technician
Job Summary

The PET Technology Technician is responsible for performing positron emission tomography (PET) and PET/CT imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease. This role ensures high-quality imaging, patient safety, and compliance with radiation safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform PET and PET/CT imaging procedures according to established protocols
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with radiation safety standards
  • Verify patient identity, review medical history, and explain procedures to patients
  • Position patients accurately to obtain optimal diagnostic images
  • Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to adverse reactions
  • Operate, calibrate, and perform basic troubleshooting of PET imaging equipment
  • Maintain accurate patient records, imaging data, and documentation
  • Adhere to ALARA principles and all local, state, and federal radiation regulations
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment
  • Participate in quality assurance, quality control, and continuing education activities
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field
  • Certification by ARRT (N) and/or NMTCB required
  • PET and/or PET/CT certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe)
  • Valid state licensure where required
  • Knowledge of radiopharmaceutical handling and radiation safety
  • Strong attention to detail and patient care skills
