Job summary

Akumin is hiring a PET/CT Technologist for our Portland, Maine facility. This part-time position may become full-time with willingness to travel to other local sites.

You will conduct PET/CT procedures, ensure patient safety, and communicate findings clearly to radiologists, with flexibility across freestanding centers, mobile coaches, or hospital settings. The role requires NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification, a state license if required, CPR, and strong customer service and multitasking abilities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience.
  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N).
  • State license, as required.
  • CPR certification.
  • As applicable, valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to work at several locations.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety and radiation safety compliance.
  • Produce high quality diagnostic PET/CT images.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and radiologists.
  • Train new technologists and support staff.
  • Troubleshoot scanners and related equipment.

We are currently hiring for a PET/CT Technologist at our Portland, Maine facility. This will be a part time position, though can become full time if open to traveling to different sites in the area.

Our PET/CT technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure and put them at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the way. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality PET/CT images/studies possible—enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence. And, because our techs work in a variety of environments—a freestanding outpatient center, a mobile coach, or a hospital-based/inpatient facility—their flexibility allows them to deliver the absolute best imaging care at any access point.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for patient safety including pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, etc. and radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with radioactive materials/patients.
  • Produces high quality diagnostic images
  • Effectively communicates with customers and/or radiologists
  • Trains new technologists and/or PC's
  • Trouble-shoots the scanner, coach and peripheral equipment (including: monitors, PACS, coils, etc.)
Position Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
  • Certification in Nuclear Medicineby the NMTCBor ARRT (N)
  • State license,asrequired.
  • CPR certification
  • As applicable, valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to work at several locations
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
Preferred:
  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies.

Eligibility for benefits will vary based on position type and hours worked.

The estimated hourly pay range for this role in Maine is $57.30 - $68.53. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, location, and other factors such as internal equity and budget.
