Job summary

Akumin in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a Part-Time PET/CT Technologist to perform PET/CT imaging and ensure patient comfort and safety. You will apply nuclear medicine protocols, operate equipment, and collaborate with radiologists to deliver high-quality studies.

Responsibilities include patient pre-screening, accurate documentation, image production, staff training, and equipment troubleshooting. A focus on precise procedures and excellent communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine (NMTCB or ARRT) is required.
  • CPR certification and a valid state license as applicable.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations and travel if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety through pre-screening and aseptic technique; follow radiation safety and documentation.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic PET/CT images for accurate interpretation.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and radiologists to explain procedures.
  • Train new technologists and support staff as needed.
  • Troubleshoot scanner and peripheral equipment (PACS, monitors, coils).

This will be a Part-Time position.Our PET/CT technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure and put them at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the way. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality PET/CT images/studies possible—enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence. And, because our techs work in a variety of environments—a freestanding outpatient center, a mobile coach, or a hospital-based/inpatient facility—their flexibility allows them to deliver the absolute best imaging care at any access point.Specific duties include, but are not limited to:Responsible for patient safety including pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, etc. and radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with radioactive materials/patients.Produces high quality diagnostic imagesEffectively communicates with customers and/or radiologistsTrains new technologists and/or PC'sTrouble-shoots the scanner, coach and peripheral equipment (including: monitors, PACS, coils, etc.).Position Requirements:High School Diploma or Equivalent ExperienceCertification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N)State license, as required.CPR certificationAs applicable, valid state driver’s license.Ability to work at several locationsStrong customer service skills.Organizational and multi-tasking skills.Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.Preferred:Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience1-2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies.At Akumin, we invest in the well-being of our employees, so you can bring your best self to work each day.
