Job summary

Eastern Animal Hospital in Baltimore seeks a dedicated Kennel Assistant to support grooming and boarding, maintain clean and safe kennels, and assist during patient care under supervision.

The role requires weekend availability, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, prior veterinary experience preferred, and adherence to OSHA PPE standards; benefits include PTO, health/dental/vision insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on weekends as required
• Previous veterinary experience preferred
• Ability to lift patients up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients over 25 pounds with assistance
• Practices OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE

Responsibilities

• Provides great care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and / or boarding.
• Records information related to the patient such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior during the visit.
• Observes patient’s general condition and notes signs of illness or discomfort.
• Walks patients several times a day to provide exercise and aid elimination.
• Regularly cleans, disinfects and maintains kennels, cages, runs and stalls; washes bowls and linens.
• Ensures cages and patients are properly numbered and that personal property is stored in the correct areas.
