Overview

Westbrook Animal Hospital is hiring a Kennel Assistant for this part‑time position, which includes rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays).

Responsibilities

• Clean kennels, cages, and hospital areas to maintain a safe and sanitary environment
• Sweep, mop, and help maintain overall hospital cleanliness and organization
• Assist with pet feeding, meal preparation, and medication administration as directed
• Wash dishes, litter pans, bedding, and laundry for the hospital and kennel areas
• Assist with patient baths and basic grooming support
• Monitor boarding pets and help ensure their comfort and well‑being
• Help maintain clean outdoor grounds and facility areas
• Support the veterinary team with daily hospital tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Compassion for animals and the people who care for them
• Comfort working with dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes
• Understanding that cleanliness and sanitation are essential parts of the role
• Ability to multitask, problem‑solve, and work independently when needed
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, bend frequently, and lift up to 40 pounds
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
