About NOCO Humane

NOCO Humane is an independent nonprofit that has served northern Colorado since 1969. As an open-admission shelter, we believe every animal deserves a safe place to go. In Fiscal Year 2026 we cared for nearly 12,700 animals (cats, dogs, rabbits, goats, snakes, and more!) and placed more than 5,600 in new homes. Guided by Socially Conscious Sheltering, our team serves animals and people with respect, dignity, empathy, and kindness.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise transport and enrichment volunteers
  • Give vaccinations, medications, and treatments, and perform basic medical triage as directed
  • Re-evaluate animal behavior, select animals for co-housing, and make sure every pet’s emotional and enrichment needs are met
  • Create enrichment plans, behavior help guides, and training presentations for volunteers, staff, and clients
  • Clean enclosures, monitor animal health, and follow PACFA regulations
  • Prepare monthly reports and help update SOPs
What You Bring

  • Knowledge of companion animal behavior, handling, health, and positive reinforcement training
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • At least 21 years old, with a valid Colorado driver’s license, an insurable driving record, and personal auto insurance

Bonus points for: vaccinating and medicating experience, behavior evaluation or enrichment experience, Chameleon or other shelter software, supervisory experience, passenger van driving, or Spanish fluency.

  • Long drives, including out-of-state trips with overnight stays
  • Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and handle animals of all temperaments
  • Exposure to noise, cleaning products, weather, zoonotic diseases, bites and scratches, and deceased animals
Benefits
