• Serve as departmental liaison to provide college‑wide pesticide safety training for graduate research assistants and staff in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
• Develop, deliver, and oversee Worker Protection Standards Training.
• Work with county agents and specialists to develop worker protection training modules and videos.
• Travel independently across the state as required.

Position Summary

The Department of Entomology at the University of Georgia is inviting applications for a full‑time Public Service Assistant/Associate (non‑tenure‑track, 12‑month) to direct the Pesticide Use and Safety Program (PUSP) for the state of Georgia. The role is budgeted at 95% Service, 5% Research. The incumbent will develop and deliver interdisciplinary educational programs in pesticide use and safety, and worker protection standards.

Minimum Qualifications

MS in entomology, a related life‑science field, or agricultural education/communication.

Relevant / Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

MS required but a PhD strongly preferred in entomology or a related life‑science field. 1–2 years of experience overseeing similar programs is highly desirable.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and/or Competencies

The successful candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, a demonstrated interdisciplinary background, and knowledge of worker protection standards and pesticide safety.
