  • Familiarity with National Security Adjudicative Guidelines and federal security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and evaluate background investigation materials to support determinations.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of national security and fitness cases with recommendations.
  • Summarize findings and document recommended actions per procedures.
  • Corroborate, mitigate, and assess derogatory information from records.
  • Identify discrepancies and request additional information when needed.
  • Prepare requests for information and investigative leads to satisfy requirements.
  • Review ROIs and materials for completeness and compliance.
  • Draft evaluations, statements of issues, LOIs, and related documentation.
  • Maintain case files per agency and contractual requirements.
  • Utilize government security systems (DISS, e-QIP, CVS/PIPS, NP2 Portal).
  • Support development of procedures, training, and process documentation.
  • Communicate with government representatives, applicants, contractors, and staff.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Personnel Security General Investigator supports personnel security and adjudicative functions by reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating investigative information to assist in determining employment suitability, fitness, credentialing, and security clearance eligibility. This position provides investigative and administrative support to government personnel security programs and ensures compliance with applicable adjudicative guidelines, security policies, and reporting requirements.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Review, analyze, and evaluate background investigation materials and related documentation to support personnel security determinations.

  • Conduct preliminary reviews of national security, suitability, and fitness cases and provide recommendations for government adjudicative review.

  • Summarize investigative findings, identify relevant adjudicative concerns, and document recommended actions in accordance with established procedures.

  • Corroborate, mitigate, and assess derogatory information obtained through investigative records and supporting documentation.

  • Identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or unresolved issues and recommend additional investigative actions when necessary.

  • Prepare requests for additional information, investigative leads, and supporting documentation to satisfy security and adjudicative requirements.

  • Review Reports of Investigation (ROIs) and supporting case materials for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.

  • Draft written evaluations, statements of issues, letters of inquiry, and other personnel security documentation as required.

  • Maintain case files, records, and documentation in accordance with agency and contractual requirements.

  • Utilize government security systems and databases, including DISS, e-QIP, CVS/PIPS, and related personnel security platforms.

  • Support the preparation and maintenance of personnel security procedures, training materials, and process documentation.

  • Communicate effectively with government representatives, applicants, contractors, and employees regarding personnel security matters.

  • Ensure all assigned work is completed within established timelines and quality standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 5 (T5) Background Investigation.

  • Active U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain a polygraph.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience conducting personnel security investigations, adjudicative reviews, or providing suitability, fitness, or security clearance recommendations.

  • ODNI Adjudicator Certification preferred.

  • Experience reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing Reports of Investigation (ROIs) and background investigation information.

  • Knowledge of National Security Adjudicative Guidelines, suitability factors, and federal personnel security requirements.

  • Experience preparing written security evaluations, Statements of Reasons (SORs), Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), and related adjudicative documentation.

  • Working knowledge of DCSA personnel security processes and procedures.

  • Experience using e-QIP, DISS, CVS/PIPS, NP2 Portal, or similar government personnel security systems.

  • Strong analytical, investigative, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related business applications.
