POSITION SUMMARY

MELE Associates is seeking a Personnel Security Assistant. The Personnel Security Assistant provides a broad range of clerical, administrative, and technical support to the Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) personnel security programs. This role supports day-to-day operations for multiple offices, including NA-84 (Albuquerque and DC), with responsibilities spanning clearance processing, badging, classified matter control, and special access program support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Clearance Processing & Verification:
    • Process Q Clearance requests for federal employees, contractors, and Other Government Agencies (OGAs).
    • Perform clearance verifications using CPCI (eDISS) and DISS databases.
    • Review and analyze personnel security documentation and investigative reports.
    • Process initial and reinvestigation cases, ensuring complete and accurate case file management.
    • Provide timely notifications regarding cancellations, approvals, or terminations of clearances.
    • Handle verbal and written clearance verifications related to DOE Headquarters cases.
  • Badge and Access Management:
    • Process HSPD-12 badge requests for contract employees and OGAs.
    • Manage clearance passing, visitor coordination, and facility access for special events.
  • Database and Records Management:
    • Maintain electronic records and logs; scan and upload documentation to systems of record.
    • Utilize and audit electronic tracking tools such as Clearance Access Tracking System (CATS), CPCI, DISS, and PIPS/CVS.
    • Ensure data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with DOE and federal guidelines.
  • Security Program Support:
    • Provide multi-disciplined security support for Collateral, SCI, and SAP activities.
    • Assist in the development, implementation, and refinement of personnel security processes and procedures.
    • Support onboarding, offboarding, and termination procedures for employees and contractors.
    • Conduct basic screening, analysis, and research related to security cases and complex personnel security issues.
  • Cross-Organizational Collaboration:
    • Provide administrative support to the NA-80 offices, as requested.
    • Collaborate with organizations to resolve personnel security matters.
    • Coordinate with other DOE personnel to address and resolve security-related issues.
    • Support international visit coordination, both on-site and off-site.
  • Classified Matter Protection:
    • Apply knowledge of Classified Matter Protection and Control (CMPC) standards in daily operations.
  • Ad Hoc Duties:
    • Advise supervisors on potentially sensitive or controversial personnel security issues.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of DOE and NNSA personnel security.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a personnel security or related administrative support role.
  • Active DOE Q Clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
  • 3+ years of experience in personnel security or a related field.
  • Familiarity with federal investigative databases (DISS, PIPS/CVS, CPCI) and DOE security protocols.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data tracking systems.

LOCATION: This is a full-time onsite position in Albuquerque, NM.
