JOB DESCRIPTION: Personalized Learning Services Paraprofessional

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Personalized Learning Services Paraprofessional is responsible for providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision and instruction of students with significant disabilities; observing and documenting student progress; implementing plans for instruction; and assisting students by providing for special health care needs and monitoring student behavior.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Personalized Learning Services Paraprofessional:

  • Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs and developing children's daily living activities and behavioral skills. *
  • Assists medically fragile or physically disabled students getting on and off the school bus for the purpose of maintaining students' personal safety. *
  • Provides support for the physical needs of students with disabilities, including toileting, feeding, lifting, transferring, mobility assistance, and personal hygiene, in accordance with individual care plans and safety protocols. *
  • Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions. *
  • Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives. *
  • Maintains a variety of materials (e.g. instructional materials, files, records, charts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reference, and meeting mandated requirements. *
  • Manages a variety of assigned activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. *
  • Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive school environment. *
  • Participates in the implementation of IEP goals for the purpose of meeting IEP goals and district benchmarks. *
  • Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. academic subjects, social skills, daily living skills, etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans, and ensuring students success in school all under the supervision of assigned teacher. *
  • Provides adapted classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives. *
  • Provides feedback of observations for the purpose of informing teachers and administrators of student progress. *
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of solving problems, providing information, and directing to other sources. *
  • Tutors students on assigned class work for the purpose of providing ongoing support in the completion of work assignments. *
  • Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. *
  • Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model. *

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

Mandatory: Minimum of high school education or GED.

Preferred: 1+ years of experience working in a school is preferred.

Additional Work Conditions and Physical Abilities: Requires travel to multiple sites.

Evaluation of this position shall be by the Principal/Asst. Principal(s).
