Job summary

YMCA of The Jersey Shore in Red Bank, NJ is seeking a part-time Personal Trainer to promote safe and healthy exercise programs for clients under supervision. You will develop individualized training plans, schedule sessions, and contribute to client retention with excellent service.

Requires 18+ and a current recognized personal training certification, plus First Aid/CPR/AED. Duties include safety inspections and maintaining equipment, with opportunity to grow within the wellness team.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Current nationally recognized personal training certification (SCA, ASCM, ACE, AFAA, NSCA, ASAA, NETA, NASM, AAAI/ISMA or WITS).
• First Aid, CPR/AED certification.

Job Details Job Location: RED BANK, NJ 07701 Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: $30.00 - $30.00 Hourly This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Personal Trainer at The YMCA of The Jersey Shore intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. Under the direct supervision of the Health & Wellness Director, the Personal Trainers will promote healthy and safe exercise programs for all clients in a professional manner.

• Must be on time and prepared for all Personal Training appointments, which includes but is not limited to adhering to the established branch and department dress code.
• Must follow established protocols for accurate and timely scheduling and recording of personal training sessions.
• Notify Regional Group Exercise Director and Client as soon as possible or with a minimum 24- hour notice if you are aware you are unable to make scheduled appointment.
• Develop and implement an individualized exercise program based on client needs. Proactively adjust according to client needs and wants.
• Responsible for instituting a retention plan that promotes the continuation of personal training services, which includes but is not limited to providing outstanding customer service, listening and responding to client needs, establishing goals and tracking progress and encouraging them to continue when their current package is or has expired.
• Responsible for generating new clients by engaging members and prospective clients.
• Report any unsafe or suspicious activity or equipment directly to Directors/Managers on Duty and supervisor.
• Exercise sound judgment in relationship to member safety & injuries. Follow all emergency procedures.
• Visually inspect work area and equipment for safety and risk, report to supervisor in writing any problems. Responsible for filling out accident/incident reports and getting these reports to the Regional Group Exercise Director. Additionally, immediately report any unsafe or suspicious activity directly to Regional Group Exercise Director or Director on Duty.
• Enhanced cleaning in areas where the employee is not directly/normally assigned as well as normally assigned areas. All employees are expected to assist in and support the efforts of the YMCA when it comes to health and wellness for the facility and other locations where the YMCA conducts business. All employees are expected to wipe machines, screens, computers, phones or anything that is used after they use it, all employees are expected to wash their hands on a frequent basis (recommended every 30 minutes if possible) and use hand sanitizer when hand washing is not available.
• The employee may be assigned to areas other than their normally assigned area as needed to meet organizational needs. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, being assigned areas to count people, help direct flow of traffic in an area, being assigned to a specific area to assist with doors, and any other duty as needed by the organization.
• Represent the YMCA in a professional manner and promote a positive and cheerful environment.
• Attend and participate in all required staff meetings and continuing job training.
• Be able to complete payroll on time each week on the payroll Mobile application on your personal phone.

Qualifications

• Must be at least age 18 years
• Current nationally recognized personal training certification (SCA, ASCM, ACE, AFAA, NSCA, ASAA, NETA, NASM, AAAI/ISMA or WITS certifications)
• Minimum 0-3 years experience as a personal trainer
• First Aid, CPR/AED certification

• YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Online Training and other required online trainings
