Responsibilities

  • Promote the YMCA Mission, goals and objectives to members, staff and the community.
  • Provide ActiveTrax Orientations and supervise fitness program delivery.
  • Recruit new personal training clients and manage existing client relationships.
  • Maintain a clean, safe branch environment and follow safety procedures.
  • Assist Fitness Supervisor with events and branch activities as needed.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis position requires the individual to perform a broad range of activities and duties needing full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand and eye coordination. The position requires corrected vision, speech and hearing to normal range, or special accommodations made of sufficient nature for completion of assigned tasks. Requires seated work at a desk, including use of a computer, and the ability to lift 30 pounds, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. The position also requires the ability to drive and occasionally requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.PRINCIPLE DUTIESCommunicate and promote the YMCA Mission, goals and objectives to employees, volunteers and the community at large.Promote a safe and positive atmosphere during scheduled working hours.Identifies and resolves problem areas to ensure member satisfactionAssists all fitness staff to ensure proper implementation of fitness programsProvide members with ActiveTrax Orientations.Responsible for recruiting new personal training clients and managing existing clientsProvides consistent member involvement activities for new and existing members.Act as a liaison for members and YMCA Directors.Assists Fitness Supervisor in organizing special events at the branch and other locations as deemed necessary.Maintain a clean and safe environmentResponsible for following scheduled appointments.Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the branch Fitness SupervisorEXPERIENCE/PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Willingness to carry out the mission of the YMCA and its programs.Ability to see that all business and safety records and procedures set up by the corporation are completed accurately within the defined time schedule.Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to maintain all personal certifications needed to serve in this position.Ability to interpret as well as adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.Ability to work independently and utilize initiative, ability to be organized and to meet deadlines.Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Work to continue personal competency through education, outside literature, seminars, etc.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONSDemonstrated record of individual developmentHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredCurrent CPR and nationally accredited Personal Trainer certificationPERSONAL QUALITIESAble to work as a team builder/memberHas a leadership presence in all situationsAble to work with diverse populationsProfessional appearance and behaviorAble to prioritize and meet deadlinesAble to research and analyze and solve problemsAbility to maintain confidentialityPositive attitudeAdhere to drug free workplace policyDesire to work in a YMCA setting in accordance with YMCA Mission.
