Job summary

MaineTouch LLC is seeking Personal Support Specialists (PSS) to provide in-home non-medical support to adults and seniors, helping them stay safe and independent in their own homes. You will work according to each client's authorized plan of care and MaineTouch guidelines.

No experience is required – training and ongoing support are provided. We offer flexible scheduling with full-time or part-time opportunities, mileage reimbursement where applicable, and paths for career growth in caregiving

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 17 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Active Maine PSS certification, or willingness to enroll within 60 days of hire.
  • CNA (active or inactive) accepted.
  • No experience required - training and support provided.
  • Must not be listed on the Maine CNA/Direct Care Worker Registry.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Physical ability to assist with mobility and daily activities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Access to a working cell phone for scheduling and documentation.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license preferred (assignment dependent).

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-home personal care and support per plan of care.
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming.
  • Support mobility and transfers safely.
  • Help with light housekeeping, laundry, dishes, and changing bed linens.
  • Assist with meal preparation, meals, shopping, and errands as outlined.

  • Observe and report changes in a client's condition or safety concerns.
  • Follow client service plans and complete required documentation accurately.
  • Follow infection control and safety guidelines and HIPAA policies.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and report emergencies when needed.

Job Description / Duties

Personal Support Specialists (PSS) provide hands-on, non-medical support to older adults and individuals with disabilities to help them live safely and comfortably in their homes or residential settings. Services are provided according to each client's authorized plan of care and MaineTouch guidelines.

As a PSS, you will:

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, toileting, and basic hygiene

  • Support clients with mobility and transfers, including safe movement with or without mobility aids

  • Help with household tasks related to care, including light housekeeping, laundry, dishes, and changing bed linens

  • Assist with meal preparation, meal serving, grocery shopping, and errands as outlined in the care plan

  • Provide companionship and conversation and support daily routines or hobbies

  • Observe and report changes in a client's condition or safety concerns to your supervisor

  • Follow all instructions and perform only tasks listed in the client's service plan

  • Complete required documentation accurately and on time

  • Follow infection control and safety guidelines during all client interactions

  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and MaineTouch policies

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and report incidents immediately

  • Treat all clients with dignity and respect

  • Maintain dependable attendance and follow assigned schedules

  • Follow all MaineTouch policies and procedures and participate in required training
