Job summary

BAYADA Home Health Care in Hawaii is hiring Personal Support Assistants (DSPs) to provide one-on-one companionship and community-based support to individuals with disabilities on the Big Island. This part-time role offers weekly pay and opportunities to take on additional client assignments.

You will help clients build life skills, participate in community activities, and grow with support from clinical managers.

Qualifications

• One year experience supporting individuals with intellectual and/or Developmental disabilities.
• Ability to transport clients to community activities.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• The ability to read and write in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one companionship and community-based support to individuals with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Help individuals build independence, develop life skills, participate in community activities, and achieve personal goals.
• Spend time on the client’s favorite hobbies and activities.
• Participate in community integration activities, errands, and appointments.
• Provide personal care assistance as needed.

BAYADA is seeking compassionate and reliable Personal Support Assistants (DSPs), caregivers, personal care aides, nurse aides, and individuals with caregiving experience, including those who have cared for a family member.

In this rewarding role, you will provide one‑on‑one companionship and community‑based support to individuals with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. You'll help individuals build independence, develop life skills, participate in community activities, and achieve their personal goals.

Many team members begin part‑time and have opportunities to increase their hours as additional client assignments become available.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

• Spend time on the client’s favorite hobbies and activities.

• Participate in community integration activities, errands, and appointments.

• Patiently teach, encourage, and celebrate small achievements, giving people the space to grow.

• Opportunity to enhance caregiving skills with support from our clinical managers.
