Job summary

Jencap in Red Bank, NJ is seeking a Personal Lines Underwriting Assistant to provide technical underwriting support for assigned accounts and make underwriting decisions on referred cases. The role is based in our Red Bank office and involves cross‑functional collaboration with agents, brokers and internal teams.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 1–3 years of related insurance experience, with training encouraged to advance in underwriting and marketing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of related underwriting/insurance experience.
• Encourage pursuing entry level insurance courses to grow within the company.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with agents/brokers, company underwriters, internal staff and management to obtain information, quote rates, present proposals and service accounts.
• Assist marketing and internal departments in resolving problems and developing new strategies.
• Provide timely responses to questions from brokers, clients and team members.
• Meet regularly with broker/underwriting teams on strategy and follow-up.
• Rate policies and endorsements; apply knowledge of rating manuals.
• Prepare information for processing new or renewal policies, including loss runs.
• Prepare quotations and proposals for broker clients and support underwriters with inquiries.
• Enter and research data in the ImageRight system per workflow procedures.
• Request additional information from brokers for applications, endorsements, cancellations and related reports.
• Assist underwriters with broker requests and comments on applications and endorsements.
• Assist underwriters with preliminary evaluation of loss experience for individual accounts.
