Job summary

Joye Law Firm, LLP is seeking a motivated personal injury paralegal to join our SC team. This full-time role supports pre-litigation work, client communications, and document management under an attorney.

Responsibilities include updating clients on case status via phone, text, and email; reviewing documents for accuracy; and handling medical records and drafting documents. Training week in Charleston with hotel stay paid and mileage reimbursed.

Qualifications

  • Three years as a personal injury paralegal or similar experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Experience with documenting and organizing case files.

  • Maintain thorough documentation in the case management system.
  • Manage retrieval and processing of medical records and bills.
  • Draft documents at the direction of the attorney.

  • Handle files in the pre-litigation status (no post-filing litigation).

The daily tasks for this position include:

  • Providing exceptional client service by updating them on the status of their case through phone calls, text messaging, and emails.
  • Reviewing documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Keeping thorough documentation in the case management system.
  • Manage the retrieval and processing of medical records and bills.
  • Drafting documents at the direction of the attorney.
  • Providing professional assistance to the attorney assigned to the file.
  • This role handles files in the pre-litigation status. This position does not handle litigation after a suit is filed on a case.

This is a full-time position. The first week of training will be in our Charleston office. JLF will pay for the hotel room and reimburse mileage for training.

Requirements

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Outlook, Lawbase Case Management software, and Worldox.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
