To provide instructional and behavioral/therapeutic assistance and support to an individual student.
1. Completes clerical or other creative tasks that support instruction of the assigned student
2. Assists the Teacher and Behavior Management Coordinator to implement the goals and objectives
identified on the assigned student’s Individual Education Program (IEP)and participates in ongoing review
and revision of the plan
3. As directed by the Teacher, and as indicated on the student’s IEP, works with the assigned student in a
direct role to provide behavioral/therapeutic assistance, support and monitoring and assistance with the
completion of tasks.
4. Assists the team to provide a functional and orderly classroom environment for the assigned student.
5. As directed by the Teacher, collects data related progress on specific behaviors/goals/objectives.
6. Maintains and processes per procedure School-based ACCESS service logs for all applicable services.
1. Routinely communicates areas of concern and participates in problem-solving activities with classroom
and treatment team members in relation to assigned student.
2. Actively participates in daily team meetings, student case presentation (S.E.L.F.) meetings, crisis
debriefing meetings and red flag treatment review meetings for the assigned student.
3. Works in a collaborative team model to design, implement, evaluate, and modify programming for the
assigned student.
4. Completes Critical Incident Reports and other required documentation within established timelines.
1. Under the direction of the Teacher or Behavior Management Coordinator assists with the behavior
management of the assigned student, including the implementation of behavioral interventions.
2. Maintains certification in the adopted Crisis Management System and consistently applies knowledge of
crisis intervention and behavioral management such as verbal de-escalation techniques, nonconfrontational
limit setting, physical restraint/ management techniques and utilizes the behavioral
management program set forth by Pace procedures.
3. Utilizes physical restraint/management techniques and procedures, in accordance with Pace policies, as a
last resort intervention to keep a student safe from harming him/herself or others.
4. Monitors assigned student and assists student during arrival, dismissal and transitions throughout the
building.
5. Supervises assigned student throughout the school day as indicated on the student’s daily schedule unless
the supervisory responsibility has been officially assigned to another staff member.
6. Perform and/or assist on an as needed basis, to the students’ physical needs, and personal
hygiene needs (e.g., diapering, toileting, grooming, feeding, etc.), following safety standards.
Additionally, follow proper procedures in handling and disposing of body fluids.
1. In all forums, models quality interactions/interventions that are consistent with and based on established
program practices.
2. Maintains appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with students and their families.
3. Maintains familiarity with Pace policies and procedures, and complies with established employment
procedures (i.e., use of sick leave, dress code, use of personal cell phone, Internet and email acceptable
user policies).
4. At the direction of the Program Leadership, implements necessary program changes dictated by special
education rules and regulations.
5. Meets with the Teacher and/or assigned supervisor for supervision on a regularly basis.
6. Participates in professional development goal setting and annual performance evaluation with assigned
supervisor according to established procedures and timelines.
7. Interacts with others in a professional manner that demonstrates understanding of the Sanctuary® Model.
8. Actively participates in continuing professional development activities.
9. Performs other duties or responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor.
