Job summary

Inspire Health Group is seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support residents in daily activities at our Wappingers Falls, NY facility. You will assist with meals, hygiene, and light housekeeping while helping maintain a clean, safe living environment.

The role requires compassionate care, strong communication, and timely reporting to the PCA in charge, coordinating with nursing staff to ensure residents receive medications and support as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Assist dining room residents with meals and snacks.
• Help residents with showering and hygiene routines.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.

• Assist residents with elevator use and mobility as needed.
• Report information to the PCA in charge and coordinate with staff.
• Document medication assistance and MAR updates as directed.

Job description

Personal Care Assistance:

• PCA shall assist residents in the dining room during mealtime by distributing meals to residents.


• PCA shall assist with cleaning the dining room after meals when required.


• PCA shall distribute facility provided snacks to residents during evening snack time.


• PCA shall assist residents with showering/bathing as needed.


• PCA shall assist residents with maintaining a healthy hygiene routine as needed.


• PCA shall assist residents by laundering residents clothing, linens, and towels as needed.


• PCA shall assist residents that require limited mobility assistance as needed.


• PCA shall answer all call bells, and check residents' whereabouts during rounds.


• PCA shall assist residents with operating the elevator lift.


• PCA shall assist residents by performing housekeeping and light maintenance tasks as needed. These tasks include but are not limited to: laundering residents clothing, linens, and towels, cleaning resident rooms, making residents’ beds, unclogging toilets, adjusting room temperature, salt areas outside of facility.


• PCA shall report all pertinent information to the PCA in charge.

Medication Assistance:

• Count Control Substance with outgoing PCA (sign your initials if count is correct). Any missing Controlled substances should be reported to Administration.


• Prepare medication, bring medication to dining room during meal time, and assist residents with medication.


• If a resident requires medication prior to breakfast, the charge PCA shall go to the resident's room and assist the resident with medication.


• If a resident requires afternoon or after dinner medication, the PCA shall assist the resident with medication from the med room.


• The procedure of assistance for injectable medication is as follows: A resident requiring assistance shall come to the med room. The PCA shall assist the resident by handing over the injectable medication to the resident. The resident shall self-administer medication in the presence of the PCA. The resident shall safely dispose of the remains of the injectable medication into the sharps container. The PCA shall never come into contact or dispose of injectable medication after it has been handed to the resident.


• PCA must always watch residents ingest medication and properly document.


• PCA shall update medication administration record as needed, after Physician visits & ensure MAR & Dr. orders match


• PCA shall ensure that resident receives all necessary documents prior to doctor appointments.


• Consult and correspond with doctor offices for any necessary clarifications


• Contact pharmacy for residents' prescription refills as needed and escript copies are received.


• Record all pertinent information re: residents in the 24 hr. Log book.
