Job summary

White River Area Agency on Aging Inc is seeking a Home Care Assistant to work under the RN Assessor and Home Care Supervisor, assisting seniors and/or disabled clients according to their care plan.

The role emphasizes in-home services, punctuality, proper documentation, mandatory training, and strict adherence to the In-Home Services policies and ethics guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Must be certified as a Personal Care Aide or Certified Nurse’s Aide/Assistant.
  • Certified Home Health Aides with current valid credentials are deemed qualified personal care aides.
  • Must provide current automobile liability coverage as required by state law.
  • Training component for PCA certification may be waived if documentation of previous experience as a PCA, nurse’s aides or similar occupation.
  • Must maintain a current driver’s license and provide copies upon renewal.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks, including state/federal checks and child/adult maltreatment checks.

  • Participate in all required/scheduled in-services trainings as required by state law and complete any written training to meet mandatory yearly hours.
  • Adhere to all policy and procedures in the In-Home Services Handbook/Policy Manual.

Job description

Job Summary

The Home Care Assistant works under the direction of the RN Assessor and under the supervision of the Home Care Supervisor in their assigned area. This position assists seniors and/or disabled clients with tasks as outlined by the client’s current care plan.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs In-Home Services duties as outlined by the aide assignment and service plan assignment.
  • Arrives and departs to each client’s home at the time designated on the schedule/aide assignment. Documentation of this is required showing the date, time, location, nature and scope of authorized services delivered. Any changes in schedule, client not home, or HCA unable to work must be reported to local office immediately.
  • Must have the maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
  • Must observe code of ethics and rules of confidentiality as outlined in the In-Home Services Handbook/Policy Manual.
  • Be responsible for immediately reporting any client problems to their local office.
  • Participate in all required/scheduled in-services trainings as required by state law. Also, you must complete any written training. This is in order to meet the mandatory state required 12 hours of yearly in-service training.
  • Be responsible for adhering to all policy and procedures as outlined in the In-Home Services Policy Manual.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be physically able to perform the work assigned; safely and responsibly.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must wear back-belt as described in the In-Home Services Handbook/Policy Manual.
  • Ability to read, write and carry out directions.
  • Must provide own transportation.
  • Maintain at least “satisfactory” competency evaluations from their supervisors in all personal care tasks they perform.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be certified as a Personal Care Aide or Certified Nurse’s Aide/Assistant.
  • Certified Home Health Aides with current valid credentials are deemed qualified personal care aides.
  • Must provide current automobile liability coverage as required by state law. Copies of renewals must be presented to local office as they are renewed.
  • Training component for PCA certification may be waived if documentation of previous experience as a PCA, nurse’s aides or similar occupation requiring the same skills needed as a PCA.
  • Must maintain a current driver’s license and provide copies upon their renewal.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks, including but not limited to; state/federal checks and child/adult maltreatment checks.
