Job summary

Licking County Aging Program seeks a Personal Care Aide to provide personal care and homemaking support to our clients. This is a full-time, non-exempt role (40 hours/week) reporting to the Manager of Client Services.

Responsibilities include compassionate client care, daily documentation, meal assistance, and helping with medications per physician orders. Valid Ohio driver’s license and background check required.

Qualifications

  • 1 year caregiving/home health experience is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Background check and pre-employment drug screening.

  • Document daily records and attendance for client files.
  • Assist with meal preparation and incidental household tasks.

Job Title: Personal Care Aide

Reports To: Manager of Client Services

Job Classification: Full-Time, 40 hours/week; Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $16.00-$23.73 (pay is dependent on previous relevant experience)

Job Summary: Responsible for providing personal care needs and homemaking needs to our clients.

Personal & Professional Attributes: Must be neat, clean and well spoken. Must demonstrate sensitivity, empathy, and understanding of the needs of older, impoverished, and developmentally disabled individuals; display common sense and good judgment, and actively promote LCAP to the public. Uphold the highest level of confidentiality, honesty, and integrity, and represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Core Technology Competencies: Must be able to use a tablet for work purposes and be able to complete all necessary paperwork.

Essential Duties
  • Demonstrate effective communication strategies and skills in order to respond to the needs, desires, and interests of all clients.
  • Exhibit care, compassion, and patience at all times.
  • Daily documentation and data entry to maintain client records/attendance/occurrences.
  • Assist clients with meal preparation, use of commode or bedpan, changing linens and incidental household duties essential to client’s health needs and companionship.
  • Assist client in following physician’s orders regarding medication, exercises, and prescribed procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

General Requirements: Commitment and desire to provide excellent service to all clients and aging community members, including those with physical and intellectual disabilities. Maintain predictable and regular attendance, work stated hours, communicate, comprehend and follow company and Day Center policies and procedures. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff. Willing and able to maintain continual yearly educational requirements (CEU’s). Ability to satisfactorily perform all job responsibilities and meet the physical requirements. All employees must possess and maintain a Valid Ohio Driver’s License, as well as the minimum auto insurance coverage for Ohio (must be able to provide proof upon request). When using your personal vehicle for work-related purposes, you are required to maintain valid insurance, and your personal insurance will be considered the primary coverage in the event of any incident.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of caregiving and/or home health experience.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
