Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking Personal Attendants to support adults with special needs in Santa Barbara County. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, accompanying clients to appointments, and helping with transportation and medication administration.

This position offers part-time or full-time schedules, paid training (40 hours), and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid CDL and a good driving record is required.
• Must pass thorough background checks & Livescan.
• Experience in the field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities (cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping).
• Accompany individuals on community outings, medical appointments, errands.
• Medication administration.
• Assist with hygiene care.
• Help with transportation needs.
• One weekend shift per week is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

We Offer:

• Part-Time or Full-Time schedules (minimum requirement of three (8) eight hour shifts per week)
• Different shifts to fit your needs: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am
• A minimum of 40 hours of paid training! No experience required to start.
• $19/hr for morning and afternoon shifts; $16.90 for overnight positions as this is considered an \"asleep\" position

Responsibilities of the Personal Attendant include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting, instructing, and supporting our individuals with daily living activities, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, bill pay, and grocery shopping.
• Accompanying our individuals on community outings, medical appointments, errands, and other activities, as directed
• Medication administration
• Assisting with hygiene care
• Assisting individuals with finding and taking public transportation
• One weekend shift per week is required
• Other activities, as assigned by the Program Coordinator

What Do Personal Attendants Do at Devereux CA?

Located throughout Santa Barbara County, Devereux’s California’s Supported Living Services (SLS) are designed to provide an alternative living arrangement for adults with special needs who prefer not to be housed in larger group home settings. Our services are flexible and provide focus and emphasis on matters related to the specific needs of each individual in their effort toward independent living.

The IDEAL candidate will:

Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to complete 30 hours of new hire orientation training, and have a strong passion for working with and helping adults with special needs.
