Job summary

D.R. Horton is seeking a Permit Coordinator in Washington to manage permit submissions, water taps, and impact fees across municipalities. You will coordinate with division teams to meet construction deadlines and ensure accurate permit tracking in JD Edwards.

The role requires 1–3 years of related experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office. Overtime may be required; a competitive benefits package is offered, including healthcare and retirement

  • Ability to sit for majority of an 8-hour workday and perform standard office tasks.
  • Overtime availability.

Responsibilities

  • Execute timely preparation and submission of plot plans, lot inspections, and building permits through municipalities based on deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit timely check requests and payments for permits, water taps and impact fees.
  • Maintain professional relationships with municipality departments and staff.
  • Serve as the designated division contact for permit issues and respond promptly.
  • Record building permit information into JD Edwards (JDE) to maintain construction scheduling.
  • Upload all building permits to the Vendor Extranet and DRH Network folders.
  • Monitor the building plan approval process through municipalities on assigned communities.
  • Distribute construction documents to Purchasing, Marketing and Construction departments.
  • Document and process plan revisions and coordinate time-frames with consultants.
  • Scan all approved permitting information.
  • Support the Construction Department with administrative duties.
  • Inform the Division Accounting Department of changes in permit fees, utility connection fees, etc.
  • Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and boost company goodwill and profit.

Permit Coordinator-WA is the role. The right candidate will coordinate all documents required for submitting and obtaining utility and building permits, water taps and impact fees. Communicate and align with division departments and external contacts to ensure all deadlines for building plans and permits are completed on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execute timely preparation and submission of plot plans, lot inspections, and building permits through various municipalities based on construction deadlines

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three years related experience and/or training
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment to ensure all deadlines are achieved
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8‑hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
  • The noise level is generally moderate
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans a plus
  • Experience working in JDE a plus
