Job summary

WVU Medicine is seeking an experienced nurse leader to coordinate perioperative services, planning education and ensuring consistent standards of practice for patient care in the OR. The role entails rounds, scheduling review, and collaboration with multiple departments.

Ideal candidates bring RN licensure, BLS in time, and strong communication and change-management skills to support the OR team and hospital goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing with two years in area of practice or ADN with four years in area of practice.
  • Current RN license issued by the state or multi-state license via eNLC.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts initial and ongoing rounds with charge RNs, OR control desk and surgeons to ensure cases progress as planned.
  • Reviews OR schedule at least one week in advance for case needs and staff training.
  • Expedites first case starts and room turnover to meet OR efficiency and quality benchmarks.
  • Updates surgeon preference cards/instrumentation trays and assists in capital equipment planning.
  • Partners with SPD, Supply Chain, nursing, and physician offices to meet patient care needs.
  • Monitors vendors and ensures compliance with policies in patient care areas.
  • Participates in inventory management, adjusting PAR levels and cost containment.
  • Leads nursing education plans for orientation, staff development, and competencies.
