UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a Lead Pharmacist for Perioperative Services to guide pharmacy practice during the implementation of a new electronic health record and expansion of automation technologies within the surgical continuum.

The role focuses on advancing perioperative medication management, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and shaping innovative care models at a premier academic medical center in Pittsburgh.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-licensure health-system pharmacist experience.
  • Perioperative pharmacy services, sterile compounding, relevant training/certification in specialized area of pharmacy practice preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
  • Provide leadership, training, coaching, and support to pharmacists, technicians, residents, and students.
  • Develop and maintain workflows, staffing assignments, and operational processes to promote consistency and productivity.
  • Serve as a clinical resource by providing medication-use guidance and drug information.
  • Oversee medication inventory, procurement, recalls, and drug shortage mitigation efforts.
  • Lead quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and cost-containment initiatives.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with providers, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Support accurate billing, charge capture, and resolution of operational issues.
  • Implement departmental policies, Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee decisions, and organizational initiatives.
