Job summary

Prime Healthcare in Harlingen, TX is seeking an OR RN to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgery. The role collaborates with surgeons and the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

The position is full time, dayshift, 8-hour shifts, with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain current.
• ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• PALS (AHA) certification within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year perioperative experience or on the job training.
• CNOR Certification (AORN) preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, ensure the environment is clean, and confirm equipment is functioning properly.
• Assist in preparing the patient for surgery, verify identity and surgical site, help position the patient on the operating table, and complete pre-operative procedures.
• Document vital signs, medications administered, and other details for the medical record before, during, and after surgery.
• Maintain a safe and sterile OR environment by adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring correct handling of instruments and equipment.
• Maintain compliance with procedures for handling instruments and equipment by all team members.

Perioperative experience

CNOR certification preferred

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
