Job summary

Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales, NM seeks a Pre & Post Op Nurse to provide comprehensive perioperative care in the OR and PACU. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring safety and effective communication with the surgical team and patients’ families.

Responsibilities include preoperative assessments, intraoperative support, postoperative monitoring, education, and documentation in the EHR.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current registered nurse licensure in New Mexico.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred.
• CNOR certification is preferred for the OR

Responsibilities

• Delivery of safe, effective perioperative care in the OR and perioperative areas.
• Assess patients at intervals and develop an individualized perioperative plan of care.
• Implement the plan of care for perioperative and post-operative phases; manage medications, testing, and consent.
• Educate patients and families about the surgical process and postoperative expectations.
• Ensure patient safety, privacy, and infection control throughout perioperative care.
• Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals to optimize outcomes.
