Job summary

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is seeking a Surgery Nurse (AORN Periop 101 Program) to prepare patients for surgery and deliver nursing care in the operating room. The role includes a 22-week AORN Periop 101 program to build perioperative knowledge and clinical competence.

Expect responsibilities such as pre-op consent, education, and assessments, assisting the surgeon, and ensuring OR readiness with compassion. A structured program is supported by an OR Educator and perioperative leadership.

Qualifications

• Diploma or ADN or foreign equivalent required.
• 1 year medical/surgical, ICU or Telemetry experience.
• Registered Nurse license: AZ.
• American Heart Association BLS required.
• ACLS certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR.
• Care for patients before, during, and after procedures.
• Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients.
• Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies.
• Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients.
