Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC, seeks a Perinatal Behavioral Health Specialist to provide screening and targeted diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for pregnant and postpartum patients.

You will collaborate with obstetrics, pediatrics, social work and community partners to coordinate outpatient care, set psychosocial goals, document patient care, and advance best practices in perinatal mental health.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or similar discipline (Required).
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a behavioral health setting with therapy, care coordination, a diverse patient population.
• Licensed or eligible: DC LICSW, Psychologist, LPC or comparable behavioral health license.

Responsibilities

• Screen and identify patients in need of behavioral health support and/or interventions in a patient-centered manner.
• Provide diagnostic, screening and therapeutic interventions.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and partner organizations to meet patient needs.
• Document patient care in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
• Contribute to program development and staff education on perinatal mental health.

Collaborate with all involved teams and support services to ensure that patient and family needs are met. Identifies and prioritizes clinical and psychosocial goals. Problem solves to ensure follow through on needed responses by multidisciplinary team. Ensures optimal outpatient coordination, and excellent collaboration between teams and partner organizations with a focus on patient experience and outcomes.
