Job summary

MUSC Health seeks a perfusionist to join the cardiovascular team in Florence, SC. The role focuses on coordinating and operating heart/lung machines and related equipment in open heart procedures.

Work under supervision of the Chief Perfusionist/Director of Surgical Services, ensuring safety and precision during surgeries. Requirements include a BS in Perfusion Technology (or BS with Perfusion certificate), 3–5 years of clinical experience (pediatrics preferred), and ABPC certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Perfusion Technology or BS with certificate in Perfusion Technology.
• Three to five years of clinical experience; pediatrics preferred.
• Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required; AHA BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and participating in the management, setup and operation of heart/lung machines and related equipment.
• Evaluate techniques and equipment for clinical application.
• Act as a resource for the heart team and maintain effective communication with the team.

Job Description

In collaboration with the surgical team, and under the supervision of the Chief Perfusionist/Director of Surgical Services, the perfusionist is primarily concerned with coordinating and participating in the management, set up and operation of heart/lung machines and other ancillary equipment used in open heart and other cardiovascular procedures. The perfusionist is responsible for:

• evaluating techniques and/or equipment for clinical application
• acting as a resource person for the entire heart team
• ensuring effective communication with the entire heart team

Additional Job Description

Bachelor of Science degree in Perfusion Technology or Bachelor of Science degree with a certificate in Perfusion Technology from an accredited cardiovascular perfusion education program. Three to five years of clinical experience to include pediatrics experience preferred. Call, transport required. Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
