Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Perfusionist AMC to operate cardiopulmonary bypass and life-support equipment for cardiac, transplant, and vascular procedures at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The role requires CCP certification, IL licensure, and BLS; a perfusion degree is essential.

You will work with surgeons and anesthesia teams, covering irregular hours and staying current with NMSECT guidelines while ensuring patient safety and high-quality perfusion care.

Qualificações

• Graduate of an accredited perfusion school.
• CCP certification.
• Licensed by the State of Illinois as a Licensed Perfusionist.
• BLS Certification through the American Heart Association.
• Bachelor of Science Degree (preferred).

Responsabilidades

• Operate cardiopulmonary bypass circuit in accordance with NM, AMSECT and manufacturer guidelines.
• Monitor oxygenator and adjust gas flow as needed.
• Operate centrifugal and roller pumps to maintain adequate cardiac output.
• Monitor blood temperature, O2, CO2, pH, venous saturations, and adjust as needed.
• Monitor blood electrolytes, potassium, sodium, and calcium.
• Monitor heparin management of patient while on bypass.
• Cool and rewarm patient as directed by surgeon.
• Chart patients’ vital parameters on perfusion record at regular intervals.
• Troubleshoot problems and communicate with the surgeon and anesthesiologist; develop corrective action.
• Complete yearly competency on perfusion equipment and guidelines.
• Read and understand perfusion equipment and NM/AMSECT guidelines.
• Set up and operate cell salvaging system, VADs (HVAD, HMII, HMIII, Impella, TandemHeart).
• Transport VADs to procedural areas and set up ECMO circuit as needed.
• Take call coverage on a rotating basis; educate staff on perfusion responsibilities.
