Job summary

CRH is seeking an Aggregate Performance Improvement Manager to lead operational excellence across western US aggregates operations. You will champion lean methods, drive performance improvements, and coach teams while coordinating with leadership and the commercial group.

The role focuses on capability-building, training, and driving cost leadership, with on-site duties and up to 50% travel within the western states. Relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years operational experience in aggregates with leadership.
  • Experience with aggregate performance tools (AggFlow, PEAK, PRISM, B2W, DF3).
  • Ability to lead and mentor teams across sites.
  • Hands-on plant systems, quality control, and data collection experience.
  • Travel 50% within the western United States.

Job description

Reporting to the VP of Division Performance, the Aggregate Performance Improvement Manager provides leadership for operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives across aggregate operations spanning multiple states in the western United States. The role champions lean and problem-solving methodologies to drive operational excellence, cost leadership, margin improvement tactics (including commercial), local adoption and sustainability.

In addition, the Aggregate Performance Improvement Manager will be engaged in capability-building activities such as needs assessments, training, and/or coaching individuals or teams in areas of competency or skills relating to operational and commercial excellence. The role may include leading a small team when engaging the business.

Location:

This is an on-site role and requires the person to live near Salt Lake City, UT; Boise, ID; Salem, OR; or Spokane, WA. Relocation assistance is available.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Safety:
  • Build and maintain trust, operate with integrity, be a role model for safe operation and a strong safety culture across Division and Americas Materials “AMAT” operations
Performance Assessments:
  • Lead end-to-end performance assessments at assigned sites, including pre-visit diagnosis, on-site assessment, post-visit analysis and support in prioritization and implementation planning
Plant and Equipment Studies and Automation:
  • Analyze and improve plant production efficiencies while maintaining product specification and quality.
  • Assess work production and equipment performance to identify improvement opportunities
LOB Operations Performance and Cost Leadership:
  • Optimize plant operations to meet sales demand in the most cost-effective manner, maximizing margin while maintaining safety and quality.
Production Planning and Target Setting:
  • Align production planning with demand forecast, mine plan, and commercial strategy to maximize margin.
  • Support plant-level production scheduling, aligned with demand forecast and margin targets
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with leadership and the commercial team to develop and sell the best-fit OpEx and value added strategy to meet customer demand.
Change Leadership and Site Sustainability:
  • Lead change management initiatives by challenging the status quo and gaining commitment from senior leaders through frontline employees.
Training, Coaching and Development:
  • Deliver effective training, mentoring, and coaching — both formal and informal — to enhance the skills of site leaders and frontline employees in applying the AMAT Performance Fundamentals and Tools.
Planning, Budgeting and Reporting:
  • Support development of comprehensive operational budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead estimates.
Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • 5+ years operational experience in aggregates, leading teams, delivery progressive results
  • Experience and proficiency in the aggregate-specific performance tools (e.g. AggFlow, PEAK, PRISM, B2W, DF3, etc.)
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
  • Hands‑on technical experience with plant systems, quality control, field application of automation and data collection
  • Site assessments including reviewing and approving tactical implementation plans
  • Training, coaching and mentoring with leadership and frontline
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels
Additional Requirements
  • Travel 50% +/- within the western United States

  • Elements of the role with be field based, will require plant/field visits and assessments.
