Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital in Galveston, TX seeks a Performance Improvement Specialist to support PI/Risk Management by identifying and leading process improvement initiatives. Qualifications

Please click here to learn more about our locations.**Job Description**The Performance Improvement Specialist supports the PI/Risk Management Department, hospital staff, leadership, and medical staff by identifying and facilitating process improvement and safety opportunities. Facilitates implementation of evidence-based practices by performing data extraction and analysis and PI methodologies. Actively leads and participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of quality and safety programs. Facilitates improvement of outcomes relevant to environment and patient safety, patient satisfaction, and clinical quality. Serves as resource and expert in performance improvement methodologies as needed. Develops education content as well as support training and mentoring of staff in performance improvement and safety activities. The PI specialist assesses and facilitates systems and/or processes to ensure that care delivered is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient centered. Promotes and supports hospital safety culture.**Key Responsibilities:*** Collaborate with teams to develop, review and revise Performance Improvement/Risk Management/Safety processes, protocols, policies and procedures.* Serves as an expert and mentor for teams, leaders and staff on Performance Improvement tools and techniques (e.g. PDCA, brainstorming, flow charts, graphs, etc), evidence-based practice searches and decision making, recommendations on improvement strategies, and methods to sustain outcomes.* Facilitate improvement of outcomes relevant to environment and patient safety, patient satisfaction, and clinical quality.* Manages Hospital wide policy program (C360). Oversees and ensures policies, guidelines and plans are revised accurately and timely.* Promotes organization wide understanding of the overall quality and safety program and culture by serving as an expert resource and conducting or providing education on performance improvement and safety structures, processes, and activities.* Develop culture of safety by instituting safety models, coordinating and leading failure modes effects analysis (FMEAs), root cause analyses (RCAs), and executing structures and process to support culture of safety* Trains and educates new hires and workforce on safety requirements, performance improvement, and patient satisfaction through orientation and appropriate departmental training, in-services, and fairs.* Assists in review for and development of narratives related to patient safety events.**Required Qualifications:*** Bachelor degree in business or related field* Knowledge of process improvement tools such as PDCA or Lean.* Knowledge of CMS and Joint Commission Requirements. ******Preferred Qualifications:*** BSN, MSN or Masters in business or related field* 3 years of quality management and performance improvement experience* CPHQ certificationThe pay range for this position is $73,559.20 - $110,350.24. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
