Job summary

3M HEALTHCARE is seeking a Performance Dietitian to support mission-critical nutrition programs. You will provide clinical nutrition services, counseling, and evidence-based documentation to enhance performance in garrison, TDY, and deployed environments.

Responsibilities include designing nutrition protocols, advising on dining facility nutrition, and collaborating with the HP program manager to implement new guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition Science or related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification from the American Dietetic Association.
  • CSSD certification within six months of employment.
  • BCLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current state certification/licensure.
  • Prior military experience preferred.
  • CSCS certification preferred.

  • Maintain records and ensure data reporting for HP programs.
  • Attend required trainings and maintain professional certifications.

Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative and clinical duties within scope of practice.
  • Provide nutritional planning, counseling, and evidence‑based documentation.
  • Advise the chain of command on nutrition and performance issues.
  • Order labs as permitted within scope of practice.
  • Provide individual and group counseling on performance nutrition.
  • Design and implement performance nutrition programs for agency personnel in garrison, TAD/TDY, and deployed settings.
  • Develop nutritional protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation and performance.
  • Collaborate with the HP program manager/coordinator to implement new protocols and guidelines.
  • Serve as advisor on dining facility and galley nutrition and liaison between food service and command.
  • Assist other regional agency personnel assets as required and approved by chain of command.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with program staff and medical personnel as required.
  • Advise on supplementary nutrition, supplements, and performance‑enhancing substances.
  • Ensure educational materials and sports nutrition supplies are available.
  • Assist with supply inventories and provide input on supply needs.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are safe and properly utilized.
  • Maintain and update records as required.
  • Participate in periodic in‑service training for HP staff.
  • Attend required training and maintain professional certification requirements.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with local mandatory command training requirements.
  • Maintain workload records, participate in education programs, and support clinical staff quality assurance.
  • Participate in peer record reviews as directed.
  • Develop and promulgate training materials as required.
  • Complete other tasks within scope as assigned.
  • Document work, utilization, referrals, and other information in the Military Electronic Health Record or HP enterprise database.
  • Collect and report data as requested by HP program manager and headquarters.
  • Proficiently use computers and software required by the program manager and headquarters.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Minimum 5 years of continuous, cumulative experience as a Performance Dietitian with individual athletes and groups at NCAA Division I, Olympic, professional, and/or military settings; paid full‑time experience at U.S. Army and/or Marine Corps Infantry Units within the most recent continuous 1 year may count.
  • Required to obtain and maintain clinical practice privileges.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Physical ability to hike over rough terrain, function in austere environments, observe training, and assist with strength and conditioning protocols.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate loads and plates up to 25 kilograms.
Education & Certifications
  • Master’s level degree in Nutrition Science or related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification from the American Dietetic Association.
  • Specialty certification as a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) within six months of employment (may be waived if other qualifications are met).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
  • Current valid state certification/licensure.
  • Preferred: Prior military experience.
  • Preferred: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
  • Contingent posting, expected to start in 2026.
