Job summary

Sportsmith is seeking an experienced performance lead to oversee GPS monitoring, data interpretation, and weekly load management for professional soccer players.

You will translate GPS data into individualized training, recovery, and IDP-based programming, coordinating with medical and technical staff to optimize match readiness and minimize injury risk. The role requires ongoing collaboration across departments and a focus on individualized athlete development.

Qualifications

• Translate GPS and performance data into training, recovery and player programming recommendations.
• Lead weekly load management and physical periodization with MD+1 through MD-1 in collaboration with medical and technical staff.
• Collaborate with technical staff to adjust session design affecting physical output and training formats.
• Monitor weekly exposure to high-speed running, sprinting, accelerations/decelerations and HIAs.

Responsibilities

• Lead GPS monitoring, analysis and interpretation for all players.
• Translate data into actionable training and recovery recommendations.
• Coordinate weekly load management and periodization with staff.
• Design and implement individualized strength, power and speed programs.
• Conduct and interpret physical testing to establish benchmarks and track progress.
• Integrate physical development into Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
• Work with Athletic Training/Medical staff to support availability and reduce injury risk.
• Identify under- or over-exposed players and adjust interventions accordingly.
• Support recovery strategies around training, matches and travel.
• Communicate with technical, medical and Sporting Department staff on physical-performance needs.
