Job summary

Kingman Regional Medical Center is seeking an Echocardiographic Technologist to perform standard and complex echocardiography including stress echo, TEE, and vascular testing under supervision of the director of Cath Lab and Echo. You will document findings in PACS/RIS and ensure quality diagnostic outcomes.

The role requires ARDMS/CCI or accredited echocardiography certification, and BLS, with attention to infection control and patient safety in a fast-paced cardiology department.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an Ultrasound Technology program or Cardiovascular Technology program or 2 years equivalent work experience and training with high school diploma or equivalent
  • Licensure: Current registration and licensure by ARDMS, CCI, or Certificate from accredited Echocardiography program
  • Certification: BLS through AHA or Red Cross

Responsibilities

  • Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes.
  • Selects the most appropriate and cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient’s abilities and condition.
  • Coordinates and participates in a variety of duties involved in the operation of echocardiography equipment to obtain and record two-dimensional and M-mode presentation of the heart utilizing high frequency sound waves to assist the physician in diagnosis.
  • Documents patient and exam occurrences in PACS/RIS to include exam start complete times.
  • Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts from the patient and from the medical record which may impact the examination.
  • Observes patient and equipment during procedures, documents patient reactions or problems on requisitions and reports immediately to supervisor.
  • Reconfirms patient identification using patient name and DOB and verifies procedure requested.
  • Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medications or insufficient patient preparation.
  • Available to perform other duties as assigned. Optimizes use of time by efficiently using resources. Assists with transporting, clerical duties and QA/QC testing.
  • Maintains assigned area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, reports all equipment failures to immediate supervisor and completes required documentation in service log.
  • The technologist works to reduce the risk of health care acquired infections through compliance with current CDC hand hygiene guidelines.
  • The technologist is knowledgeable of and demonstrates compliance with all National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Understands Hospital and Departmental policies. Has the knowledge to perform job responsibilities safely and complete duties without direct supervision.
  • Contributes to departmental compliance on IP exams performed in less than 6 hours from order.
  • Keeps abreast of happenings within department by attending staff meetings.
  • Completes Annual Mandatory Hospital Program updates.
  • Contributes to departmental goal of Courtesy of Imaging Services staff at 90%.
  • Contributes to Hospital goal of 90% for patient satisfaction.

Reports to: Director of Cath Lab and Echo Exempt Status: NO

Position Purpose:

All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision to be among the kindest, highest quality health systems in the country.

Works under the direction of the supervisor/ director, cardiologist, in the performance of standard and complex echocardiography including stress echo, TEE, and vascular testing. Utilize established protocols for the purpose of assisting the cardiologist in the diagnosis of cardiac malfunctions, malformations and abnormalities. Adheres to KHI’s Behavioral Expectations Agreement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes.
  • Selects the most appropriate and cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient’s abilities and condition. Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to patients’ size and condition, depth of field, and other specifications of exam.
  • Coordinates and participates in a variety of duties involved in the operation of echocardiography equipment to obtain and record two-dimensional and M-mode presentation of the heart utilizing high frequency sound waves to assist the physician in diagnosis.
  • Documents patient and exam occurrences in PACS/RIS to include exam start complete times.

Work Requirements
