Job summary

Bay State Community Services Inc in Hingham, Massachusetts is seeking a Youth Advocate to support and encourage adolescents in a caring living environment. The role requires working closely with youths to ensure their safety and promote their wellbeing.

The ideal candidate will be empathetic, patient, and possess a high school diploma. Prior experience working with adolescents is preferred, along with CPR and first aid certifications.

Weekend availability for morning and/or evening shifts is required, with more hours available.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience working with adolescents is preferred.
• Residential experience preferred.
• Experience with DMH or DCF systems preferred.

What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference in the Lives of Youth

• Driving is required
• Spending time with and supervising 12 youths in a medium size home like environment
• Providing support and encouragement to youths
• Ensuring the overall safety of youth in the program
• Assist youths with their service goals including homework help, coping skills and behavior management
• Acting as a positive role model to support youths’ wellbeing

Schedule

must be available to work weekends (morning and/or evening shifts); more hours available

Requirements

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1 year experience working with adolescents is preferred (not required)
• Residential experience preferred
• Experience with systems (e.g. DMH, DCF) preferred
• Additional languages desirable, though not required
• Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPI physical interventions, and de-escalation techniques
• Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPR and first aid
