Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a per diem pharmacist to support University Behavioral Health of Denton. The pharmacist will cover as needed for planned and unplanned absences, with hospital operations managed by CPS Solutions-Optum.

Responsibilities include processing physician orders, ensuring accurate dispensing, and collaborating with healthcare professionals. Texas licensure and ACPE-accredited PharmD are preferred; 8:30am–4:30pm weekdays with some weekend hours possible.

Qualifications

• ACPE-accredited PharmD is highly preferred or a BS in Pharmacy with recent pharmacist experience.
• Active Texas pharmacist license in good standing is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is expected.

Responsibilities

• Process physician drug orders including order entry into the dispensing system.
• Ensure appropriate product selection, labeling and repackaging; delegate prep to technicians.
• Provide drug information and guidance to clinicians and staff.

This is a per diem position with no guaranteed or set schedule. The individual in this role will provide coverage as needed for planned and unplanned staff absences, including PTO, vacation, leave of absence, and other staffing needs. Flexibility and availability to work on an as-needed basis are essential.

About the Facility

University Behavioral Health of Denton is a 104-bed inpatient psychiatric facility dedicated to providing exceptional behavioral health services for adolescent and adult patients. Our team is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care through a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment. CPS Solutions-Optum has partnered with the hospital to manage the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. This position is an employee of CPS Solutions-Optum.

Pharmacy Hours

The pharmacy is open Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm and Saturday and Sunday 8:30am to 2:00pm.

Primary Responsibilities

• Processes physician drug orders including, but not limited to:
  • order entry into dispensing computer system
  • appropriate product selection
  • labeling and repackaging
  • delegating product preparation activities to pharmacy technicians
• Consults with various health care professionals and provides information and guidance concerning drugs and their appropriate use
• Complies with departmental and hospital policies and procedures
• Assumes duties of Director of Pharmacy in his/her absence to manage daily departmental activities
• Participates in and/or provides support to hospital committees as agreed upon by committee members and the Director of Pharmacy to help establish drug-related policies, criteria, or to monitor issues related to drugs i.e.
• Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
• Assist in the preparation of periodic reports on the progress of the department for submission to the administration of the hospital
• Assists the department and hospital in maintaining compliance with accreditation standards

Required Qualifications

• ACPE - accredited PharmD degree (highly preferred) or BS of Pharmacy with recent pharmacist work experience
• Active State of Texas pharmacist license in good standing
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Preferred Qualification

• Some hospital pharmacy work experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $44 - $79 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
