Job description

The per diem Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and treats patients referred for speech, language, cognitive, and dysphagia dysfunction.

1. Administers speech/language and or cognitive evaluations, tests orexaminations to patients to collect information on type and degree ofimpairment.

2. Evaluates speech/language test results and medical or backgroundinformation to determine speech impairment and treatment.

3. Counsels and instructs patients concerning communication disorders andhow to cope with the stress and misunderstanding that may accompany them.

4. Provides patients, families and caregivers with ongoing counseling andeducation to facilitate communication.

5. Assists patients in developing and recovering reliable communication andswallowing skills to allow them to fulfill their educational, vocational andsocial roles.

6. Conducts speech pathology in-service training programs forrehabilitation staff.

7. Records and maintains reports of speech or swallowing treatments.

8. Formulates and implements group therapy programs to address the needs ofimpaired patients and their families.

9. Participates in conferences or training to update or share knowledge ofnew speech pathology or speech/cognitive/language/dysphagia treatment methodsor technology.

10. Performs other related duties

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $78.59 - $78.60 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
