Job summary

Bay Cove Human Services seeks a Nurse (RN) - Per Diem to maintain a safe therapeutic milieu, provide direct nursing care, and contribute to treatment plans as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role supports patients on their recovery journey within a non-exempt per-diem schedule, typically two shifts per month.

Massachusetts registration and nursing license are required; hospital experience of 1 year is needed, with substance use or mental health experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts nursing license is required.
• One year of hospital experience required (acute admissions).
• Prior experience with substance use disorders or mental health treatment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on proven principles.
• Respond to patient needs, address withdrawal symptoms, coordinate with physicians, therapeutically block AMA's, and facilitate therapeutic groups.
• Prepare, administer, and record routine and PRN medications in accordance with policies.
• Share responsibility for planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment plans and communicate with the treatment team.
• Record information concisely and accurately according to established protocols.
• Conduct controlled substance and syringe counts at shift changes and sign the register.
• Monitor vital signs and assess withdrawal signs per protocol.
• Communicate unit rules to patients and families; seek feedback for understanding.
• Respond professionally in crisis situations.
