Options for Community Living, Inc. is recruiting Per Diem Residential Counselors to support residents living with mental illness on a per diem basis on Long Island. Shifts are available Monday through Friday, with coverage commitments and transportation responsibilities.

A high school diploma is required, and a driver’s license with a safe driving record is needed. The organization offers benefits including Sick PTO, a 403(b) with employer match, EAP, wellness initiatives, and paid training.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent.
• Experience in a residential program preferred.
• Must provide coverage when offered (within your identified availability) and respond within 48 hours.
• Must provide coverage at a minimum, 1 shift per month.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Support residents with daily living activities.
• Participate in individual service plan development.
• Train and assist residents in daily living.
• Document services with notes.
• Manage medications and document accordingly.
• Provide counseling, crisis management, and transportation as needed.
• Oversee residence in the absence of full-time staff.
• Notify supervisor of emergencies.

An ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

• Have a passion for assisting those diagnosed with mental illness. Must be a self-starter and well organized.
• Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent.
• Experience in a residential program preferred.
• Required to provide coverage when offered (within your identified availability), respond to staff when contacted to request coverage within 48 hours, and report to shifts once commitment is made.
• Must provide coverage at a minimum, 1 shift per month.
• Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, valid auto insurance and access to a vehicle is required.

Salary Range:

$20.00/hr. - $24.00/hr.

• Overnight & Weekend Differential Pay may be applicable.

Shifts available Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM as needed.

Responsibilities:

At Options for Community Living, Inc., individuals living with a mental health diagnosis live, learn, and develop their potential in an environment that respects personal choice. The Relief Residential Counselor provides various support services on a per diem basis to the residents in the activities of daily living.

• Participate in the planning and evaluation of individual service plans and monitor plan objectives.
• Train and assist residents in the activities of daily living.
• Document services provided with appropriate notes.
• Manage medication and document accordingly.
• Provide case management and follow-up service.
• Provide counseling, behavioral intervention and crisis management services while following emergency procedures.
• Assist in the day-to-day management and household maintenance of the community residence in a professional manner.
• Provide transportation to residents as needed.
• Responsible for the management of residence in the absence of a full time Residential Counselor.
• Notify the Program Supervisor/Program Manager of any medical or psychiatric emergency.
• Complete overnight checklists and after-hours log during overnight shifts.
• Read and enter notes in Foothold Communication Log every shift.Complete and maintain all training requirements in a timely manner.
• Other relevant responsibilities as assigned by management.

Salary Range

$20—$24 USD
